In Amsterdam, the Jewish community organized a joyous ceremony to mark the 47th anniversary of the Green March. The meeting was attended by members of the Jewish community, as well as rabbis, most notably Rabbi Abraham Rosenborich.
His Majesty’s Ambassador Mohamed Basri attended the ceremony. His Excellency the Consul-General of the Queen of Morocco of Amsterdam, Mr. Salim Al-Hajmari. The evening was also attended by Sheikh and Prof. Abdul Ilah Al-Amrani, Director of the Islamic Institute Dar Al-Huda, Amsterdam, and President of the Youth and Future Foundation.

The ceremony was opened with a welcoming address by the Chairman of the Organization, Mr. Sami Kaspi, in which he thanked everyone for meeting the invitation to celebrate the “Green March” anniversary. He also thanked the officials of the Moroccan Diplomatic Mission in the Netherlands who had been invited to attend the ceremony, headed by His Majesty’s Ambassador in the Kingdom of the Netherlands. and the Consul-General of the Kingdom of Morocco at Amsterdam. We note Morocco’s solidarity with Jews and Muslims and emphasize the importance of such gatherings and meetings, in which we reaffirm our attachment to the Kingdom’s sacred constants and our country of origin, Morocco.
Then I gave the floor to His Excellency the Ambassador: “Mohamed Basri”, who commended the organizers of this successful ceremony, reminiscent of our great glory and history, noting the association of the Jewish community residing abroad with its native Morocco, its fulfilment of its history and identity, citing the history of Moroccan Jews and their great contribution to the service and defence of their homeland, and sacrifice for it throughout history. His Excellency also spoke of the Green March, launched by His Majesty King Hassan II, “God rest his mercy. It is one of the most important historical stations in the struggle of the Moroccan State. The Moroccan people participated in organizing this peaceful march towards the Saharan territories of Morocco on the sixth day of Nunbar in 1975. Under the high leadership of His Majesty King Mohammed VI, Morocco had become a major open workshop and a country on the road to modernity, the construction of infrastructure necessary for economic development and the strengthening of its international competitiveness.
In turn, Rabbi Abraham Rosenborich spoke of the Green March, the March for the Restoration of the Moroccan Desert, and the subsequent reconstruction, struggle, development and development.
