“Get to Know Each Other” in the Realm of the Grand Iftar

Under the slogan “Get to Know Each Other” and on the occasion of the blessed month of Ramadan, the Islamic Institute Dar El Huda in Amsterdam, the Netherlands, organized the Grand Iftar event held at the Dar El Huda Mosque in Amsterdam. The event was hosted and facilitated in Dutch by Mr. Yasser Hawtash, and was attended by a group of Dutch officials, scholars, and imams, as well as representatives from Christian and Jewish institutions, some civil society organizations, and representatives from the Amsterdam police force, along with residents of the neighborhood adjacent to the mosque.

The ceremony included speeches from prominent participants, including: the Consul General of the Kingdom of Morocco, Mr. Hemmie Kerklingh, Director of KAV TOGO, Mr. Murad Hajjar, Deputy Regional Director of the Amsterdam Police, and Ms. Wamoot Bonder, a university professor in religious studies and director of the Imam Training Program in the Netherlands at the Free University of Amsterdam.

On this occasion, the Director of the Islamic Institute Dar El Huda, Sheikh Abdelilah El Amrani, delivered a welcoming speech in which he elaborated on the significance of the event’s slogan “Get to Know Each Other,” highlighting the importance of acquaintance and harmony among people, regardless of religion, gender, color, or ethnicity. He emphasized the value of cooperation for good and cultural convergence as a fundamental pillar for building a cohesive and secure society.

Sheikh El Amrani also emphasized in his speech that the moderate and balanced approach adopted by the institute aims to foster interfaith understanding and build bridges of understanding.

The Iftar ceremony concluded with the presentation of appreciation certificates and gifts in an atmosphere characterized by warmth, brotherhood, and love, reflecting the sincere values of solidarity, brotherhood, and cooperation that distinguish this noble month.
