  • Eid Al-Adha Prayer 2024-1445 Story that Embodies Sacrifice and Sincerity and Strengthens the Spirit of Solidarity and Compassion among Muslims

As part of the celebration of Eid Al-Adha for the year 2024-1445, El Huda Mosque in Amsterdam organized the Eid prayer events in an atmosphere of joy and happiness, attended by Muslims of all ages and backgrounds. Sheikh Abdelilah El amrani, Director of the Islamic Institute of El Huda in Amsterdam, delivered the Eid sermon, emphasizing the most important lessons and wisdom derived from this significant religious occasion.

This Eid comes to strengthen social bonds among Muslims in Amsterdam, providing an opportunity to meet and communicate in an atmosphere of love and brotherhood. The Eid prayer is also an important occasion to remind people of the importance of unity and solidarity within the community, raising religious awareness and promoting noble Islamic values. Allah Almighty says: “That they may witness benefits for themselves and mention the name of Allah on known days over what He has provided for them of [sacrificial] animals. So eat of them and feed the miserable and poor” (Quran 22:28).

In his Eid sermon, Sheikh Al-Omrani highlighted the lessons and wisdom that Muslims should derive from this event, most notably the value of sacrifice and sincerity, exemplified by the story of Prophet Ibrahim (Abraham) and his son Ismail (Ishmael). This story embodies sincerity to Allah Almighty and the true meaning of faith and sacrifice for His sake. Allah says: “And when they had both submitted and he put him down upon his forehead, We called to him, ‘O Abraham, You have fulfilled the vision.’ Indeed, We thus reward the doers of good. Indeed, this was the clear trial. And We ransomed him with a great sacrifice” (Quran 37:103-107).

Sheikh Al-Omrani called for enhancing social solidarity among Muslims through the practice of sacrificing animals and distributing their meat to the poor and needy, contributing to strengthening social bonds and spreading love and mercy.

As explained by Sheikh Al-Omrani, Eid Al-Adha teaches us the importance of obedience to God’s commands and following His guidance. It is an occasion that reminds us of the significance of complying with Allah’s orders, which strengthens a Muslim’s connection with their Lord and increases their piety and faith. Allah says: “Indeed, We have granted you, [O Muhammad], al-Kawthar. So pray to your Lord and sacrifice [to Him alone]” (Quran 108:1-2).

Eid is an opportunity to draw closer to Allah through good deeds and acts of worship, whether it be the Eid prayer, the sacrifice, or other forms of devotion.

We point out that organizing the Eid Al-Adha prayer at El Huda Mosque in Amsterdam is an opportunity to deepen social and religious bonds within the Muslim community and to remind them of the important lessons and wisdom carried by this great occasion. We ask Allah to accept from everyone their righteous deeds and acts of worship. Eid Mubarak, and may you have a blessed year ahead.
